Podiatry Affiliates, PC will be joining Buffalo Medical Group, PC
With the beginning of the New Year also comes our news that Podiatry Affiliates, PC will be joining Buffalo Medical Group, PC as of March 1, 2015. We are pleased and excited to join forces with one of New York State’s longest established multispecialty medical groups that features a strong tradition of quality comprehensive patient care.
As a valued patient of our group, we would like to communicate that as Western New York’s oldest and largest podiatry practice we will continue to provide you with the same level of quality podiatric medical care. While our contact information also remains the same, you will begin to notice after March 1 that correspondence sent from Podiatry Affiliates will now also say Buffalo Medical Group. Your caller ID on your telephone may also indicate Buffalo Medical Group.
While our services remain the same, our joining together with Buffalo Medical Group allows you access to a large complement of physicians if the need arises as well as a host of ancillary services such as full service diagnostic imaging, laboratory services and physical therapy.

Presentations included the classification of the high-risk limb, healing and preventing the diabetic foot wound, reviewing the evidence of skin substitutes, the importance of debridement, the Charcot Foot, and the challenges of osteomyelitis. Attendees included physicians, podiatrists, nurses, and mid-level providers.
The nature of podiatry has changed since Dr. Jeffrey M. Carrel became a foot doctor in Buffalo in the late 1960s.
“When I started out, probably 10 percent of my practice involved diabetes and now it’s upwards of 60 percent,” said the 72-year-old doctor, who lives in Williamsville and continues to practice in the offices of Podiatry Associates.... Click here to read more (PDF)

NEW FROM PODIATRY AFFILIATES:
Improve Foot Function, Reduce Pain and Increase Mobility with Pressure Mapping
Podiatry Affiliates is pleased to announce that we now offer computerized gait analysis using the F-Scan® in-shoe pressure measurement system! This state-of-the-art system allows us to “see inside the shoe”, giving us a better understanding of how a person’s foot interacts with their footwear, and helping us provide the best, most advanced care in the area.
The average person takes thousands of steps every day, generating a force equal to several hundred tons on the bottoms of their feet. Everyone walks a little bit differently, distributing this force in their own unique way. For some people, the distribution of force is very uneven. This creates areas of highly concentrated pressure that can cause pain in the foot itself, and can also cause misalignments that lead to pain throughout the lower body.
People with diabetes have an increased risk for developing pressure ulcers, which increase the likelihood of an eventual amputation. Ulcers occur when sustained pressure in a specific area causes tissue to break down – they are literally wounds that develop “from the inside out”. Offloading, or redistributing pressure from these areas is an important part of preventing and healing pressure ulcers.
The F-Scan system helps us find and address the root cause of these problems by clearly quantifying areas of high pressure in a color-coded display. It also provides us with timing and gait parameters we can use to develop optimal treatments for each individual. We can easily share a patient’s test results with them, making it easier to explain diagnoses and treatments.
Virtually everyone can benefit from an F-Scan exam – including athletes looking to improve their performance; diabetics dealing with neuropathy; and anyone suffering from foot, knee, hip or lower back pain.
Want to learn more? Contact our office and to see whether an F-Scan exam could benefit you or someone you know. Or, visit us on the web at http://www.podiatryaffiliates.com.
Podiatry Affiliates is committed to improving the health and well-being of people in our community with the most advanced medical technology. Contact us today to make an appointment and see how we can help you.
